UMDNJ
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey was the nation’s largest health sciences university. The institution functioned as the core of New Jersey’s state-wide system of health sciences education, biomedical research, and healthcare. Founded in 1970 to consolidate New Jersey’s health professions education, UMDNJ became the very core of the state’s health sciences system. The university consisted of five campuses and a network of more than 200 affiliated healthcare and educational partners spanning the state. In 2012, the New Jersey State Legislature passed a law restructuring the New Jersey healthcare education system, merging its five medical campuses with Rutgers University and Rowan University.

American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery
The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is the world’s largest specialty association for facial plastic surgery. It represents more than 2,700 facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons throughout the world. The AAFPRS is a National Medical Specialty Society of the American Medical Association (AMA) and holds an official seat in both the AMA House of Delegates and the American College of Surgeons Board of Governors. AAFPRS members are board-certified surgeons whose focus is surgery of the face, head, and neck. AAFPRS members subscribe to a code of ethics.
Specialization in medicine has been one of the major enhancements in patient care over the last generation. AAFPRS members not only have a precise focus in patient care, but they also have had more comprehensive training in facial surgery than any other medical specialty.
American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery
The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) is a professional medical society whose members are dedicated to patient safety and physician education in cosmetic surgery. Its members specialize in cosmetic surgery. The AACS is the organization that represents cosmetic surgeons in the American Medical Association through its seat in the AMA House of Delegates. The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery provides in-depth instructional fellowship programs to advance a physician’s education in cosmetic surgery and enhance clinical skills. Post-residency fellowships provide comprehensive training with leading specialists in various fields for an unmatched educational experience. The AACS has over twenty fellowship programs located across the country, specializing in the field of cosmetic surgery.
American Board of Cosmetic Surgery
The mission of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS) is to serve the public by promoting the safe and ethical practice of the specialty of cosmetic surgery. Diplomates of the ABCS shall demonstrate the highest standards of training, knowledge, and expertise, as determined by a process of peer review and standardized examination and certification.
The following is a list of goals for The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery:
- To establish training standards
- To establish a method for the qualification of specialists in cosmetic surgery and a certification system
- To achieve and maintain the highest professional standards in cosmetic surgery
- To carry out such goals and objectives in full compliance with all laws and regulations relating to equivalent surgical specialists
American Osteopathic Association
Serving as the professional family for more than 100,000 osteopathic physicians (DOs) and osteopathic medical students, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) promotes public health and encourages scientific research. In addition to serving as the primary certifying body for DOs, the AOA is the accrediting agency for all osteopathic medical schools and has federal authority to accredit hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
